This site operates as a public clearinghouse for work related to United Nations Security Council Resolution 1540. It is managed by the Stanley Foundation.
In April 2004, the United Nations Security Council unanimously passed Resolution 1540, which mandates that all Member States implement a set of supply-side controls on equipment and materials relevant to nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons and criminalize proliferant activities within their territories. The Resolution also includes a provision that encourages states with the capacity to lend assistance in support of 1540's mandate to do so, and, in turn, encourages states in need to request any help they may need to meet 1540's demands.
The Stanley Foundation has created this website to facilitate global implementation of Resolution 1540. The 1540 Hub aims to centralize the various international and NGO resources relevant to Resolution 1540 in a single destination.
